Dutching splits a stake across outcomes in proportion to their implied probabilities, so the return is identical whichever one wins. Stakes are not rounded; round them yourself and the returns will differ by pennies.

How it works

Each stake is the total multiplied by that outcome's implied probability (1 ÷ decimal odds) divided by the sum of all the implied probabilities. That sum, shown as the book percentage, is the whole story: under 100% and you lock in a profit, over 100% and you lock in a loss.

A single bookmaker's market is always over 100%, that is their margin. Dutching pays when you take the best price for each outcome from different bookmakers or an exchange, which is what odds comparison is for.
